On 15th June 2011, we were visited by some members of the ARRC. They brought with them an ambulance which had been donated by St John's Ambulance and is one of 8 travelling from England to Mongolia. The children were able to have fun looking at the Ambulance, and find out exactly what these brave men will be doing. It is part of an ARRC campaign to supply hospitals in Mongolia with ambulances so that they can send people to hospital quicker, as they do not have the resources to do this at the moment. They are also raising money for 'Help for Heroes,' and a local children's ward in Gloucester Royal Hospital. The Ambulance will be driving the whole way to Mongolia, with local businesses such as Innsworth Barber Shop as sponsors supporting them. These sponsors will help supply things like petrol for the Ambulance. The men will be surviving on army rations throughout the journey, and will be sleeping in tents, or in the Ambulance in extreme weather conditions. We wish these men good luck on their journey. |
